Thomas Farm Open House
Join us at Thomas Family Farm on Sunday, Feb. 19th from noon-4pm for ongoing food preservation demos, crafting from nature, orange & lemon U-Picks Kids activities and more! Meet the pigs, chickens and peacocks and enjoy an afternoon of outdoor fun. We’re launching our 2023 season of tours, workshops and activities and celebrating the bounty of the farm! AFE Information Night
Alternative Family Education (AFE) is a public Santa Cruz City Schools Alternative K-12 Homeschool program. Our credentialed Teacher Consultants are here to support you & your student(s) on your homeschooling journey. We are a vibrant community with an array of options for learning and playing together. Your family can choose to enrich your student’s learning with our teacher-led classes in core subjects, student leadership opportunities, parent-led classes/events/field trips, Alternative Schools sports league, clubs and groups in a variety of interest areas, and concurrent enrollment in other schools and colleges. We are centrally located in Midtown on the Branciforte Small Schools campus. Childcare will be provided.

Have fun at the MAH! Build 3-D models while learning local history
With an emphasis on experimentation, young artists will get a chance to be super creative with this exciting hands-on workshop. The workshop will be divided into two work segments so students will get a chance to work on both individual and group projects. The workshop includes a guided tour of the ReflectioNNN exhibit by a museum staff member. A variety of materials will be supplied to help build the 2-D and 3-D models. Space is limited so preregistration is encouraged. Drop-ins will be available on a first come basis. A limited number of scholarships will be available to qualifying students.

It introduces children to how a shelter operates and teaches how to recognize animal behavior and body language. Santa Cruz SPCA Preteen PAWS Tier 2 Program
Preteen PAWS Tier 2 is for students 10-12 years old. The program builds upon the children’s knowledge and skills from PAWS Tier 1. It runs for three weeks and develops the children’s awareness of both humane and inhumane conditions that animals experience (tailored appropriately to their age). Children are introduced to the five Freedoms of animal welfare. They listen to stories, play games and write letters. The children conduct research and create interactive workbooks. Every week students get to play with dogs and cats, train and walk dogs and give our animals love and care – all while they develop calm and trusting relationships with them.
