Come learn about the story of Big Basin: past, present, and future while wandering under the guardian old-growth redwoods that have seen it all! This program is a 1 hour walk on a 0.6 mile, flat and easy trail designed for all ages. We will be covering the cultural history of this unique area including Indigenous groups, loggers, and preservationists. Of course, we will also discuss natural history such as the amazing coast redwood and the CZU Lightning Complex Fire as well as the future of our park.Participation is free, however, a $10 vehicle day-use fee will be charged upon arrival, or you can reserve a parking spot by clicking here. Please plan to meet at the temporary visitor center area located next to the restrooms at 10:45 am. UCSC Arboretum: First Saturday Tours

Around the World in 60-90 Minutes! The first Saturday of each month, the Arboretum offers a docent or staff-led tour of the Arboretum. Sometimes you will see New Zealand, South Africa, California, or Australia. Sometimes you might see combinations of several gardens, the developing World Conifer Collection, or Rare Fruit Garden. Tour length varies depending on what’s in bloom and what the participants request.  

Natural Bridges Volunteer Tidepool Training Day 3 of 5

Natural Bridges State Beach is seeking volunteers to share the amazing and beautiful life of the rocky shore  with the public in the visitor center and outside in the tidepools. Help us lead school programs and discover the many ways you can help at the park.  Come join our Natural Bridges docent team by attending our 5 week long tidepool training session. Welcome to the 51st season of the Santa Cruz Baroque Festival, a celebration of the rich tapestry of Baroque music.  This season will include enchanting performances led by our Artist-in-Residence, Jörg Reddin.  Maistro Reddin is a distinguished Baroque organist, vocalist, and conductor who holds J. S. Bach’s old job in Arnstadt, Germany. At the UCSC Recital Hall, hear Jörg Reddin sing in the bass-baritone range.  He will be accopmanied by Sheila Willey in the soprano range. Vlada Volkova-Moran will be playing the chest organ obligato and continuo.  Marc Schachman will be playing the baroque oboe and oboe d’amore.  All will be accompanied by the festival Barque Strings!
