Pleasure Point Park: Sharks Cove Surf Classic

Pleasure Point County Park E Cliff Drive and 33rd Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA, United States

Registration starts at 7 a.m. on the beach at Sharks Cove. Competition begins at 8 a.m. Lunch, sponsored by Pizza My Heart, will be served to all participants.  Be sure to bring a board that you don’t mind SHARING with someone else!  Or just enjoy the show and beautiful scenery from the walkway above the cliffs!  Limited edition event T shirts and hoodies will be available to buy on the day of event. Supplies always sell out fast so come early if you want to purchase some killer Sharks Cove Classic memorabilia!!

San Lorenzo River Trail Run

Run through 300 foot tall, 1500 year-old Coastal Redwoods, lush stream canyons, open meadows, pine and oak forests, and high dry chaparral-covered ridges. The Half Marathon, 30K, Marathon, and 50K events cross the San Lorenzo River multiple times! (Distances are accurately measured using a Rolatape® surveyor’s measuring wheel.)

Seabright Beach: TAC Skimblast Skimboarding Contest

Head to the far south corner of Seabright Beach, near the Walton Lighthouse for the 10th Annual TAC Skimblast skimboarding competition. Professional competitors include three-time men’s UST champion Lucas Fink from Rio De Janeiro, 2021 men’s UST Champion Gerardo Valencia from Barra De Navidad, Mexico, and local talents Reef Grell, David Haefele, and Kai Schmidt from Santa Cruz. The event also welcomes amateur skimboarders of all skill levels and ages. “This year marks a decade of TAC Skimblast, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. This is the biggest skimboarding event in Northern California with nearly 100 participants each year. The level of competition at the professional level continues to go higher each year. Tri Santa Cruz

Cowell Beach 21 Municipal Wharf, Santa Cruz, CA, United States

Tri Santa Cruz is one of the most fun and scenic events on the west coast.  The race has a sprint and international (Olympic) distance triathlon, with relays and aquabike categories for both races.  There is a special, non-competitive Family & Friends wave for people who are new to triathlon or just want to have a fun day.  The sheltered swim and flat bike and run course make this a perfect place for a first race. The bike ride is a totally closed course and both the bike and run courses follow the coastline to create one of the most scenic races around!  It also makes cheering on your athlete a vacation itself!

Santa Cruz Harbor: Annual Regatta

You’ve enjoyed the Wednesday night sailboat races all Summer, but you do not want to miss the big Annual Regatta!  If you own a sailboat, you do not need to be a member of the Santa Cruz Yacht Club or have a previous race rating to register for the race.  Sailboats in all classes are welcome to join.  You could watch this Sunday race for free as you do on Wednesday nights.  You could join in on the gourmet award ceremony dinner with no host bar and musical entertainment after the race for $35.  If you are a certified sailor with a sailboat, you could join the reverse sailing race and attend the award dinner for $50.  You could catch a ride on the Chardonnay sailboat participating in the race and attend the dinner for $100.  All this and much more for your day at Santa Cruz Harbor!

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park: Santa Cruz Trail Run

Giant redwoods dominate the landscape in our Santa Cruz Trail Run. Aside from coiling single-track that opens to expansive roads and paths–and even sand–participants will enjoy the ocean breezes pouring in from the Santa Cruz coast. This race delivers everything from river crossings to high ridges with aid stations every 5-6 miles for refueling before tackling the next beautiful, albeit strenuous, section. This is a perfect race for family and friends to attend. They can cheer, enjoy Henry Cowell Park, and consume post-race food fit for a trail running king or queen!
