Since 1987, The O’Neill Cold Water Classic has been northern California’s premier professional surfing event held at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz. “The Lane” is perhaps the best spectator venue for a surf contest to be found anywhere in the world. No surf spot resembles an ancient roman stadium more than Steamer Lane, with steep, vertical cliffs overlooking the fabled right-point break. As a unique destination, event spectators flock to northern California’s iconic point break to hug the cliff railing and witness the world’s top surfers compete.

Live Oak Jack Rabbit 1-Mile Run & Student Art Contest FUNdraiser
The 3rd annual Live Oak Jack Rabbit 1-Mile Run and Student Art Contest FUNdraiser will take place on Sunday, April 14th, at Shoreline Middle School on 17th Avenue in Santa Cruz, CA. Opening ceremonies begin at 8:00 AM. Registration for the 1-mile races on the USATF-certified track are open to the public online at: http://tinyurl.com/LOJR2024 The first wave of runners takes off at 9:00 AM and races continue every 15 minutes through 11:45 AM. Race registration fee is $10 per runner with the funds raised going to support the art program for the Live Oak School District students. All are invited to join this community fun run for the 1-mile challenge as a solo runner or as part of a relay team, view student art on display and cast your vote for your favorites, browse the merchant marketplace, enjoy food, entertainment and community partner booths. Delavega Park: NorCal Crusher Cup Dirt Bike Race
DeLavega Park Branciforte Drive, Santa Cruz, United StatesDelavaega Park has been the home of the Western Collegiate Mountain Biking Championship held by UCSC Cycling for many years. It features an outstanding XC course with very diverse terrain and trail features. There will be medals for the top three finishers in each class from beginners to pros, prize money for the open and pro classes, as well as a food truck and other vendors there to enjoy your day watching racers and meandering around all the other things to do at the park!

Seabright Beach: TAC Skimblast Skimboarding Contest
Seabright Beach Santa Cruz, CA, United StatesHead to the far south corner of Seabright Beach, near the Walton Lighthouse for the 10th Annual TAC Skimblast skimboarding competition. Professional competitors include three-time men’s UST champion Lucas Fink from Rio De Janeiro, 2021 men’s UST Champion Gerardo Valencia from Barra De Navidad, Mexico, and local talents Reef Grell, David Haefele, and Kai Schmidt from Santa Cruz. The event also welcomes amateur skimboarders of all skill levels and ages. “This year marks a decade of TAC Skimblast, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. This is the biggest skimboarding event in Northern California with nearly 100 participants each year. The level of competition at the professional level continues to go higher each year.
