Lighthouse History Walk with Pigeon Point Light Station State Historic ParkJoin us for a 45 minute walking tour of the historic grounds of Pigeon Point Light Station. Meet by the fence in front of the first cottage. Hear tales of whalers, bootleggers, shipwrecks, the building of the lighthouse, the “Wickies” and their families, and the restoration of the tower (currently closed to the public). Hike at Big Basin with one of our knowledgeable docents and plant enthusiast through the majestic Redwoods post fire. See which plants are thriving after the CZU Lightning Complex fire and possibly see some Banana Slugs! Plan for 3 hours of easy walking and 2-4 miles on trails and fire roads. Dress in Layers, bring water and a snack. Rain or high wind will cancel. Participation is free, however, a $10 vehicle day-use fee will be charged upon arrival, or we recommend you reserve a parking spot by clicking here. Come learn about the story of Big Basin: past, present, and future while wandering under the guardian old-growth redwoods that have seen it all! This program is a 1 hour walk on a 0.6 mile, flat and easy trail designed for all ages. We will be covering the cultural history of this unique area including Indigenous groups, loggers, and preservationists. Of course, we will also discuss natural history such as the amazing coast redwood and the CZU Lightning Complex Fire as well as the future of our park.Participation is free, however, a $10 vehicle day-use fee will be charged upon arrival, or you can reserve a parking spot by clicking here. We invite you to join us at Felt St Park, located in the Live Oak area of Santa Cruz, California at 1904 Felt Street for the Inaugural Wheelie Good Time on Saturday, October 19 from 11:00am - 3:00pm! · Ecology Action and Bike Santa Cruz County are leading group bicycle rides with support from the Community Bike Collective to Felt St Park from Jade St Park and Frederick St Park. At Felt St Park, the Harbor High Bike Tech team will be available to help with repairs · The Santa Cruz Boardroom is facilitating a “Random Acts of Shredness” skateboard jam for all abilities – prizes awarded for positive attitude and smiles! Try skateboarding for the first time or shred the fun park · The local Impalas Car Club has some sweet classic cars to display and there is room for a few more on the Center for Spiritual Living parking area · The Young Outdoor Leaders of the County Park Friends organization are planning a performance, DJ Jahi will be supplying the tunes, and Areparia831 will have yummy food available to purchase · Confirmed organizations include Cradle to Career, Central Fire, American Medical Response, the Live Oak Education Foundation, and Cub Scouts Pack 676. It is the site for after-school programs, youth soccer practices, birthday parties, team celebrations, and quinceañeras. Although Felt St Park is widely used and well-loved, it suffers from frequent graffiti and was impacted by recent vandalism. We are fundraising for colorful murals, improved shade, and needed repairs. Felt St Park needs help!

Join a State Park Educator and enjoy the flora and fauna of Butano State Park on this moderate 2.2 mile loop. This hike features creekside riparian habitat, redwood forest, and oak woodlands. Keep your eyes peeled for banana slugs and newts! Where: Meet at the Visitor Center near the front entranceTime: 10:00amParking:  Parking is located by visitor center. Additional parking is located at the picnic area further down Butano State Park Road. $10 vehicle day use fee applies. Preparation: Participants should wear sturdy shoes and a hat, and bring plenty of water & snacks.
