There will be inspiring nonfiction and documentary films on surfing and water sports, travel and adventure, conservation and climate. Watch and be inspired by stories from those on the frontlines of coastal protection.  This event will feature a bar with offerings from West Peak Sparkling Spirits as well as light fare. To make their film festival more eco-responsible, they have eliminated single-use plastic cups. Fault Lines explores the housing crisis in San Francisco, but its themes resonate deeply with the challenges we face in Santa Cruz as well. The film weaves together the stories of a neighborhood fighting against developers, activists pushing for housing reform, and a family searching for stable housing. After the screening, join us for an engaging panel discussion featuring local housing advocates such as Elaine Johnson (Housing Santa Cruz County), to bring he conversation home and exploring actionable solutions for our community. GIANTS RISING - The Secrets & Superpowers of The Redwoods, is a new film that tells the story of the amazing life of redwoods through history, science and art. This will be a family friendly community building event provided by the Forest Lakes Firewise & Safety Association. We will start with a food truck (@realtaco56) at 4:00 pm so you can grab some great food and meet local organizations and businesses that will help protect and beautify your home. We'll show the film at 6:00 followed by a 7:30 panel featuring: Lisa Landers - the Director of Giants Rising Portia Halbert - Senior Environmental Scientist at California State Parks Brian Woodward, PhD - Forest Advisor and Ecologist UC Cooperative Extension It will be a night to celebrate the very rare opportunity of living among the redwoods!
