GIANTS RISING – The Secrets & Superpowers of The Redwoods
GIANTS RISING - The Secrets & Superpowers of The Redwoods, is a new film that tells the story of the amazing life of redwoods through history, science and art. This will be a family friendly community building event provided by the Forest Lakes Firewise & Safety Association. We will start with a food truck (@realtaco56) at 4:00 pm so you can grab some great food and meet local organizations and businesses that will help protect and beautify your home. We'll show the film at 6:00 followed by a 7:30 panel featuring: Lisa Landers - the Director of Giants Rising Portia Halbert - Senior Environmental Scientist at California State Parks Brian Woodward, PhD - Forest Advisor and Ecologist UC Cooperative Extension It will be a night to celebrate the very rare opportunity of living among the redwoods! Tickets are free but seating is limited. Donations are appreciated. Don’t miss the 2024 La Selva Beach Holiday Fair happening Saturday, November 16, 10 am to 4 pm at the La Selva Beach Clubhouse and Lawn, 314 Estrella Avenue, La Selva Beach. Over 50 fine artisan and craft vendors will sell handcrafted jewelry, art, woodwork, bags, ceramics, garden art, specialty foods, soaps, clothing, books and more. The Friends of the La Selva Beach Library Used Book Sale will fill the courtyard with books for all ages and interests. The Library's Advisory Council of Teens will host a Bake Sale and the Prize Raffle of vendor donated crafts. Local food trucks Tacos el Jesse and S&B Burgers will sell street food favorites. Civic Auditorium: Beauty and the Beast
Step into the enchanted world of the Broadway classic, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature. The stage version, performed by youth from aged 4 to 18, includes all of the wonderful songs you know and love, along with new songs to surprise you! The play is 2 and a half hours long. Vintage excursion cars, adorned with thousands of colorful lights, roll through city streets past homes of Santa Cruz.
