This multisensory experience is inspired by the Festa de Yemanjá in Brazil. Yemanjá/Iemanjá/Yemoja/Yemayá is the West African Goddess of the sea that represents the ancient, essential, and beautiful nature of water. The Yemanjá Arts Festival brings together diverse interpretations of traditional and modern art forms from the African diaspora that pay homage to popular folkloric, contemporary and spiritual traditions.
Enjoy a solo performance by Rosangela Silvestre, Music from Expressoes Do Samba, and a reimagining of a Do Sagrado ao Profano that was last performed in 1999. Go experience the resilience of African spiritual practices across the Americas and expect an energetic catharsis!
