This is an annual fundraiser for highschool students interested in marine science. COA offers a one-of-a-kind hands-on college prep course to high school students ages 14-19 interested in learning how and why we study marine mammals. Top of the field local marine mammal researchers and educators take twelve students at a time all around Monterey Bay, showing them new technologies and field methods used to study cetaceans, pinnipeds, and sea otters. Mornings are spent in the classroom with a lecture portion that prepares the students for what they will learn in the field. If you are in high school, love the ocean and the critters that inhabit it, and are curious what you can do with a degree in marine science, this course is designed for them.
