New Transformer Movie (Bumblebee) includes Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

SANTA CRUZ, CA (December 20, 2018) – The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park will be seen in Paramount Picture’s new Transformers spin-off movieBumblebee, opening in theaters December 21.
 
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken.  When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.  The film stars Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., John Ortiz, Jason Drucker, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Schneider, Angela Bassett, Justin Theroux and Dylan O’Brien.
 
Bumblebee’s large production spent 2 days filming on the “Brighton Falls Boardwalk” in September 2017. Many local extras, including some Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk employees were hired for the Boardwalk scenes. 
 
The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, an historic seaside amusement park, has scenes in many Hollywood movies including the cult-classic vampire movieThe Lost Boys, Clint Eastwood’sSudden Impact,as well asThe Sting II,Dangerous Minds,Killer Clowns from Outer Space,Harold & Maude,Chasing Mavericks,The Entertainer, and many other feature films and tv programs.
